Steel Shackles

D-shaped chain safety shackles that we use in our break test machine.  This shape and this specific shackle can be pulled above it's WLL before permanent deformation occurs.  Bow shackles, if pulled close to their MBS, will deform and pulling the pin loose becomes difficult or impossible.  Chain shackles are our favorite when we plan on using and abusing break test equipment.

Climbing Taiwan's Notes: These G80 alloy steel shackles are our go-to when break-testing metal hardware, which otherwise would not be possible & sustainable if we used other steel connectors. "G80" is a high-strength, heat-treated alloy steel that is designed to withstand heavy loads and high stress. The manufacturer states their MBS as 4 times the WLL rating. However in our usage and tests with them, we've far exceeded their working-load rating without any notable deformation of the pin or shackle. For example, the "2 Ton shackles" we've taken up to 60kN, the "3 Ton shackles" up to 90 kN, and they still perform fine throughout many additional tests. Of course we must disclaim: You accept your own responsibility for the use and misuse of the product.
